Innovation, the development of the blue economy, and data exchange have been central this May. Fundació Barcelona Capital Nàutica has participated in various activities linked to the United Nations Decade Collaborative Centre for Sustainable Ocean Economy (DCC-SOE), which precisely reinforce this line of work.
In this context, Raffaele Mancini, Director of the United Nations DCC-SOE for Sustainable Ocean Economy, participated as a speaker in the blue economy webinar for the program “Boosting Data Sharing in the Ocean Decade”, organized by the Decade Coordination Office for Ocean Data Sharing. During the session, Mancini provided insights focused on the sustainable transformation of the maritime sector. He also highlighted the strategic role of data in driving new development models linked to the sea.
Concurrently, Rosina Motilla, a member of the strategic projects area of Fundació Barcelona Capital Nàutica, participated in the session “Knowledge and Skills for Tourism in the Blue Economy”, organized by the University of Barcelona. The event addressed the key knowledge and skills necessary for the development of tourism within the blue economy sector.
Overall, these participations reinforce the connection between research, innovation, and knowledge transfer within the DCC-SOE, especially concerning data management and the sustainable growth of sea-related sectors.
